ময়ূর দেখতে খুবই সুন্দর একটি পাখি। বাংলাদেশের প্রকৃতি থেকে ময়ূর অনেক আগে বিলুপ্ত হয়ে গেছে। ময়ূরের রুপ নতুন করে বলার অপেক্ষা রাখেনা। ময়ূর পৃথিবীর সুন্দরতম বড় পাখিদের মধ্যে একটি। পৃথিবীতে যে সকল পাখি পেখম তোলে ময়ূর তার মধ্যে অন্যতম। ময়ূর বিভিন্ন রঙ্গের ও জাতের হয়ে থাকে, তবে আমাদের পরিচিত দেশি ময়ূর নীলাভ দেহের হয়ে থাকে। ডানার উপরে সাদা সূক্ষ্ম রেখা আছে।পিঠ লম্বা লেজ ও পালক গুলো সবুজ। ময়ূরের পেখমে সুন্দর বিচিত্র চোখের মত চকচকে ডিজাইন থাকে। মাথায় ঝুঁটি থাকে এবং তা ছড়ানো। আমাদের দেশে ময়ূর দেখতে চাইলে চিড়াখানা ছাড়া উপায় নাই। ময়ূর সম্পর্কে লিখে শেষ করা যাবেনা সুতরাং আজকে এই পর্যন্তই।

Arborophila atrogularis

এই পাখিটি বাংলাদেশ বিরলতম। চির সবুজ মিশ্র বনে এদের দেখা মিলতো।সাধারন তিতিরের চেয়ে আকৃতিতে কিছুটা বড় হয় এই তিতির। এদের পিঠ হলুদা ভাব ধুসর,কপাল,চিবুক ও ভ্রু সাদা,মুখমণ্ডল কাল যা মুখোশের মত দেখা যায়।গলায় ও বুকের সামনের দিকে কালো ডোরা থাকে।পেট ও পার্শ্বদেশ ধূসর। চোখ, অন্য রঙের ফোঁটাযুক্ত ডানা ও পা লালচে। পিঠ আঁশের মত পালক দ্বারা আবৃত। এদের দৈর্ঘ্য কমবেশি ২৮ সেন্টিমিটার। সাদাচিবুক তিতির নাদুস-নুদুস, পা দেহের পেছনদিকে হওয়ার ফলে মনে হয় এ পাখির দেহ খাড়া কাঠির উপর বসানো।

This bird is the rarest in Bangladesh. They were found in evergreen mixed forests. These partridges are slightly larger in size than normal partridges. Their backs are yellowish gray, forehead, chin and eyebrows are white, face is black which looks like a mask. There are black stripes on the front of the neck and chest. The abdomen and sides are gray. Eyes, other colored spots, wings and legs are red. The back is covered by fibrous feathers. Their length is less than 26 cm. The body of this bird seems to be sitting on a steep stick as its legs are towards the back of the body.
